Global Impact of 2022

At MAP International, we believe that everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. That’s why we’re committed to providing life-changing patient treatments to people in need around the world.

Our efforts have enabled us to provide critical medicines and health supplies to millions of people in 86 countries around the world. We’re also pleased to report that we increased our medicine delivery by $119 million from the previous year, totaling $745,372,921. Additionally, we provided $37,549,164 in disaster relief – a $24 million increase from 2021. Our mission is simple yet impactful: to provide essential medicines and health supplies to those in need so they can live life to the fullest.

In the fiscal year 2022 alone, we delivered over 16 million prenatal vitamins to 49 countries to support maternal and fetal health. We also provided over 119,000 oral rehydration salts, totaling nearly 3 million sachets, to 45 countries to help prevent dehydration. Additionally, we administered over 1.8 million deworming medications to patients in 15 countries and provided over 800,000 antibiotics to individuals in 57 countries. Through our Bringing Children Health (BCH) Program, we were able to reach over 324,000 children – an increase of over 243,000 from the previous year. By targeting our efforts where they’re needed most, we can make a real impact and improve the health and wellbeing of children around the world.

The need: Getting lifesaving medicine to underserved communities

The statistics are shocking: Nearly 1,000 people die every hour from diseases or illnesses that could have been treated, in many cases, with a few dollars’ worth of medicine that we here in the U.S. take for granted.

Together, we can change that! With your help, we could raise a total of $600,000 to provide more treatments such as lifesaving pediatric antibiotics and oral rehydration solutions for children with life-threatening conditions, or chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and asthma in countries around the world!

Providing more than 1,090,909 full treatments of pediatric antibiotics to children with life-threatening infections

Providing 2,400,000 chronic disease treatments for diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and asthma

Fighting Malnutrition

Since 2016, violence from local extremist groups within Burkina Faso has been on the rise, leaving the infrastructure and much of the country in tatters. One in ten children faces malnutrition. MAP works directly with the local health districts to conduct community-based interventions to prevent malnutrition and increase access to treatments, including oral rehydration solutions (ORS) and vitamins. 

“I am a mother of two children, a boy and a girl. My daughter is 15 months old. She was suffering of diarrhea and acute respiratory infection and that led her into malnutrition. My child was cured by this medicine that I received for free from the health facility. I could not afford buying it at the pharmacy as the drug was expensive.” – Balkissa 

GETTING CHRONIC DISEASE MEDICINES TO THOSE IN NEED 

The Dominican Republic is one of the Caribbean’s poorest countries. MAP provides consistent access to lifesaving medicine and health supplies to address inequities, where many struggle with chronic diseases. 

Diagnosed with ankylosis spondylosis, a rare autoimmune disease, Rodney had been on the government waiting list for two years when MAP made the offer of Humira. He had been hospitalized numerous times due to pain and complications to a point where he wasn’t even able to stand or do basic activities of daily living. After receiving doses of this medication for close to a year now, Rodney now has a job and is living on his own. 

Helping Children Stay Healthy

MAP supports partners with material aid donations that address critical needs for essential medicine in developing countries. MAP’s donations of prenatal vitamins, oral rehydration solution (ORS), deworming tablets, and 
antibiotics like amoxicillin address disparities and promote healthy outcomes.
